Our first trip on our adventure was to Decatur Illinois. We headed to Decatur as vendors for the Decatur Celebration.  We were very fortunate to have booked several days at Friends Creek Conservation Area.  Mr. Pete, our host, spoiled us rotten.

Upon arrival, Mr. Pete rolled up in his golf cart with a big smile on his face.  He pointed us to the camp sites he thought would be the best for our family.  When we realized our hose wasn't long enough to reach the water faucet, he let us borrow one of his.  He explained to us the workings of the camp and let us know that the facilities were cleaned daily. We loved that the campsites were spaced out and you could be neighborly without being right on top of one another.

We set up shop and headed out to explore.  The hiking trails were clearly marked and wide enough for a family of 4+ to walk through side by side.  We actually let the dogs run on this trail.  We read about the conservation area and finished up at the one room school house. This hike is when we realized we should always be taking our hiking bags!  We didn't realize how long the trail was and no one had water...or first aid supplies, etc. We fixed that!

The playground was fun for a while but the kids were more interested in riding their bikes and exploring.  I was thankful that the showers were in tip top shape. No bugs and clean. The campground itself had zero litter and was quiet and very laid back.

Decatur Celebration was an experience.  I was pretty excited to hear Brett Micheals and Nelly perform but a vendor right down the way from us had his music blasting...not cool. There was a ton of great food there too.  I had to hit up the Grilled Cheese truck twice.  Once my GC had cheese, apples, and bacon.  Yummy!

Lot's of great music.  I'm not just talking about the big names, even those smaller, local bands were awesome!

It was a long and tiring three days at Decatur.  We definitely sprinkled the love.  It's crazy how few people have heard of Pink Zebra out this way.

We backed up our belongs and said goodbye to Mr. Pete.  He gave us lots of tips and tricks for our upcoming stays.  We give Friends Creek Conservation Area 5 stars!!!
